As the web evolves, so too does its applicability and design functionality. There are certain aspects of web3 (or Web 3.0) that many creative design agencies are yet to discover or simply continue to ignore, while others are seeing great success integrating these new and innovative concepts into their online presence and brand identity. As we know, these new concepts are one of the main factors contributing to the overall success of some of our client projects and something we suggest other creative design agencies begin considering to avoid being left behind in web 2.0 for a more immersive and visually enhanced user experience.

This article discusses the core features of Web 3.0 design and looks to inform our readers on its impact on the entirety of the world wide web.

Having evolved from the original web 1.0 and web 2.0, web 3.0 is making a distinctive mark on digital design with dynamic illustrations, interactive features, and creative content. Some critics even say that it’s still too soon to tell exactly what it’s truly about. Still, as a web 3.0 design agency ourselves, we can confidently say the brands who’ve embraced its newest elements will tell you there’s something totally different happening within digital design today.

Take a look at the difference in design structure and page layout from 1999 to today:

Original Web 1.0: AltaVista
Classic Web 2.0: 45 Royale Design Inc
Future Web 3.0: Mative Labs

As we see above, the addition of immersive and creative elements has improved user experience, which has been the most significant impact of web 3.0 on web design in recent years. We’ve gained first-hand knowledge and insight into the benefits of adaptable background elements like clean shapes and curves to impose a specific design navigation path as we continue to adapt to new tools and creative resources with each project. We discovered that shapes and blobs, when used correctly, can help to highlight important content while also providing a pleasing user interface.

Furthermore, our web 3.0 designs incorporate far more illustrations and visual content than ever before, not only to enrich each page but to illustrate a specific project, brand, or organization’s story, and purpose.

Regardless of the site’s purpose, though, the fundamental elements of any excellent web design remain the same. It must be visually appealing, simple to navigate and contain high-quality content that meets and exceeds the users’ expectations. In general, we’ve found that web 3.0 designs use a lot more brand illustrations and visual storytelling content and have been a significant positive. Aside from it adding interest to site pages, it also illustrates a project or brand’s story and mission in a visual manner, some key factors behind why they play an essential role in the impact of web 3.0 are:

Encapsulate user/visitor attention

Not only are visual elements critical in capturing visitors’ attention, but they play a crucial role in persuading them to explore a website or mobile application further. Ultimately, users are drawn to the page’s exciting colors, immersive designs, and uniquely integrated shapes.

Simplifies complex aspects

When it comes to explaining what a website or app offers, web designers have traditionally used headlines given by the brand. Visual illustrations, on the other hand, can now do most of the heavy lifting. As a result, a complete illustration set is specifically created based on a brand’s purpose or a project’s offerings and features.

Individuality & uniqueness

Because no two brands are alike, we believe it’s critical to reflect their individuality, which is where UI/UX design comes in and plays a significant role in value proposition by design. Brands can now portray a distinct identity through visuals that set them apart from the competition, and that’s precisely what we look to do at Mative Labs by keeping the colors, geometric shapes, navigation buttons, and illustrations consistent throughout the brands’ entire digital ecosystem.

Remember when websites were built using wireframes and sketches that you drew on paper and then transferred to the computer? Thankfully, this was somewhat alleviated by the invention of Photoshop, but not to the extent of the tools available today. With today’s design technology tools, we’re able to create pixel-perfect designs for brand websites and mobile apps while exporting some of our work directly as design projects that migrate into ready-to-go live websites.

“The essence of web3 is the evolution of web utilization, which includes transforming the web into an open and interoperable database, and urges the degradation of the web’s current back-end to usher in this new era of internet and web design.” — Jonah Bolden, Co-founder @ Mative Labs

We predict that many websites will be designed with Web 3.0 at the forefront of their minds in the next few years. Creative agencies who understand this technological change will have a natural competitive advantage over those who don’t; it’s just that simple. It’s no longer about designing websites that look good on a desktop computer. With the rapid growth of smartphones and tablets, web designers and creative design agencies cannot afford to ignore how their clients’ websites work across different screen sizes or fail to function as designed when accessed from these devices.

Ultimately, web3 is an entirely new paradigm in web design and a shit in deisgn-thought process for digital & creative design agencies who are always looking ahead at our ever-changing world with the same enthusiasm as we have. We no longer fear change as we know it means more opportunities for innovation at every stage of the creative funnel — from storytelling development to creative social media strategy.
